Arvid Lindblad: The making of an F1 rookie

Within the high-stakes, fast paced world of Formula 1, the journey to the top from promising youngster to professional athlete is anything but straightforward. However at just 18, Arvid Lindblad is rewriting the modern timeline for drivers not only at a young level but at the pinnacle of motorsport. Being the only rookie on the grid for the 2026 season not only brings pressure, but puts his journey in the limelight to demonstrate the dream is not impossible.

Away from the track, Lindblad is a straight A student after completing A-levels in mathematics and chemistry while being homeschooled from the age of 15 in order to focus on a career behind the wheel alongside the rich heritage of Swedish and Indian in which he carries from his father and mother and has helped shaped him into the young man he is today, challenging at the pinnacle of motorsport. 

Behind the wheel however, is where Arvid truly strives and has made a name for himself. Just like most of the grid, he followed a path familiar to modern motorsport development in which started out in karting where he won the prestigious WSK Euro Series in 2021 and was later picked up by the Red Bull junior programme where he made the transition into single seater racing. From there on a star was born as records started to fall as Lindblad became the youngest ever race winner in Formula 3 and Formula 2 at just 16 and 17 years of age.

Having only one year in Formula 3, Lindblad made the transition into the seat of a Formula 2 car where he raced for Campos racing. During his tenure at the team, Lindblad secured three race victories and five podium finishes which saw him finish sixth in the drivers standings come the end of the season, which seemed to be enough in order to convince the hierarchy of Red Bull Racing, that he indeed was ready for the pinnacle of motorsport. Lindblad also secured his FIA Super Licence by winning the Formula Regional Oceania Champion in New Zealand, where he followed the footsteps of the latest F1 world champion, Lando Norris. 

Arvid is the only rookie driver on the Formula One grid for the 2026 season after being fast tracked by Red Bull racing into the junior team, Racing Bulls, with high expectations ahead of his debut at the Australian Grand Prix. However, despite being the only rookie, he is still hot on the heels of the class of 2025 which contain the likes of Kimi Antonelli (Mercedes), Isak Hadjar (Red Bull Racing) and Ollie Bearman (Haas) who have all established themselves rapidly within the grid.

With only a handful of races so far in 2026, Lindblad has not disappointed. He currently sits 11th in the Drivers Championship after securing points on debut and only trailing his teammate Liam Lawson by six points. 

A teenager who has made history on every level, now sets his hopes on one day becoming a Formula One World Champion!
